“You keep adding these dollar amounts, and it’s going to start pricing people out of these things.” Jon Mast, CEO of Manatee-Sarasota Building Industry Association, on potential impact fee increases in Sarasota County

WHAT'S THE BUZZ

Sarasota restaurateur Mark Caragiulo, who co-owns The Shore Diner, Owen’s Fish Camp and Caragiulos Italian Restaurant, plans to open a raw bar and seafood restaurant at the site of the former Sam Snead’s American Grill.

Here’s what readers had to say about the plan on our Facebook page.

"A tad lower prices so the avg neighborhood owner can afford to go there is needed. If they price it the same as the Palm Ave location it won't work. Geckos and the new Brick Oven place will kill them." Michael P. Goeller

"It's gonna be a winner! Mark knows what he's doing and Southside Village is lucky to have him." Tom Dowdy

"As long as they have some yummy vegan options!!!" Victoria Andrich

"More raw bars!!!!!! The more the better!" Carolyn Davis Cockey

Donald Trump will hold rally at Robart's Arena

Just more than a month after Donald Trump picked Sarasota as his Florida headquarters, the leading Republican presidential candidate will hold a rally at noon Saturday, Nov. 28, at Robarts Arena, 3000 Ringling Blvd. Doors open at 9:30 a.m.

The Trump event follows fellow candidate Ben Carson’s book signing at BookStore1Sarasota that drew more than 1,000 attendees, although it was technically not a campaign event.
