This weekend two of Sarasota’s most creative events are happening: the Siesta Key Crystal Classic and the Sarasota Chalk Festival. Each year these two events leave us inspired and in awe. When it came down to deciding which to attend, we decided both were not to be missed.

2013 Sarasota Chalk Festival
The 2013 Sarasota Chalk Festival runs until Monday Nov. 18. The festival has taken over Pineapple Avenue and includes two divisions: a professional artists section and one for aspiring artists. This year’s festival celebrates the theme “Legacy of Valor” and features 500 artists. International and local artists have come together for the six-day festival to honor veterans and inspire patriotism. The festival showcases all degrees of chalk artists — from beginners, such as the children’s chalk block, to the experienced 3-D professional artists.
