Food and activities, such as an inflatable obstacle course and a human hamster ball, will greet patrons as they arrive at the Out of Door Academy's Thunder Fun Day this weekend.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, students and their families can munch on chili, play laser tag or climb the rock wall — a few of the annual activities offered at the event — while getting a chance to play new games this year at the Lakewood Ranch campus, 5950 Deer Drive, Sarasota.

The proceeds from sponsors of the event will go directly to various projects at the academy. Funding for guest speakers and a four-square court at the Siesta Key campus are rumored to be the recipients of the dollars raised from the Nov. 9 event.

Volunteers are still needed, email [email protected] for more information.
