WEEKEND BEST BET: Kiwanis Club Barbecue

If you’ve been craving barbecue chicken, pulled pork, baked beans and coleslaw, head on over to the Kiwanis Club of Sarasota’s “Downtown Kiwanis Club Bar-B-Que 2010” this weekend.

The event — which features food, fun, music and a raffle — takes place from noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Historical Society of Sarasota, 1260 12th Street (between U.S. 41 and Cocoanut).

Tickets are $20. The fundraiser supports Kiwanis Club grants. Last year’s grant recipients were the Boys and Girls Club, Pines of Sarasota, The Wellness Community, First Step Of Sarasota and the Salvation Army, to name a few.
