Former undercover agent and NBA referee Bob Delaney will kick off a campaign to collect new sports team T-shirts and other logo clothing items for the troops on Saturday.

East County residents can drop off new logo clothing items from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sept. 18, and from 1-5 p.m., Sept. 19, at The Polo Grill and Bar, 10670 Boardwalk Loop, Lakewood Ranch.

The items will be donated to the Chaplain's Closet, also known as the Wounded Warriors Ministry Center, in the Landsthul Medical Center in Germany. The closet provides clothing and other items to soldiers after they come to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

Delaney, who has visited troops in the Middle East since 2009, soldiers particularly love logo clothing items because it reminds them of home.
