MONDAY, AUG. 3

Summer Chef Jam  takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shamrock Pub, 2257 Ringling Blvd. $25.

The Summer Chef Jam series, presented by Edible Sarasota and Chefs2U, continues at the Shamrock Pub.

This week’s featured chef is Mark Woodruff of MADE, who will serve a BLT Lobster Roll paired with Darwin Brewing Co.'s mango-infused Circa 1926 Tangerine Wheat, spaghetti and "4" meatsball paired with Fat Point's Going Mintal lemon mint Belgian wheat and strawberry shortcake paired with Motorworks' coffee porter.


TUESDAY, AUG. 4

Over the River and Through the Woods — takes place at 8 p.m. at Florida Studio Theatre, 1241 N. Palm Ave. 

From the author of "I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change," "The Last Romance," and "Broadway’s Memphis," comes the story of a man faced with a life-changing career decision.

He must navigate the scheming shenanigans of all four of his grandparents to make him stay. Surprises and hilarity abound in this family fiasco.


WEDNESDAY, AUG. 5

The Great American Dinner Theatre — takes place from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Starlite Room, 1001 Cocoanut Ave. Free.

Celebrate making it halfway through the work week with a night of karaoke and bingo at the Starlite Room.

Bingo players can win unique prizes, such as theater tickets, bottles and gift cards, and all karaoke singers will get a free shot with their first song.


THURSDAY, AUG. 6

YPG After Hours — takes place at 5:30 p.m. at Capital Grille, 180 University Town Center Drive. Free for members. $10 for non-members.

Join fellow young professionals for an evening of networking at the Capital Grille.

With an average of 80 to 100 young professionals gathering on the first Thursday of each, month, it's an opportunity to make new friends, secure new clients and learn more about what Sarasota has to offer. 


FRIDAY, AUG. 7

First Friday Gulf Gate — takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. in Gulf Gate. Free.

Venture down to Gulf Gate for Sarasota's newest First Friday event.

Many Gulf Gate businesses, as well as guest businesses from around town, will be open late offering samples, discounts and an opportunity to mingle.


SATURDAY, AUG. 8

Radiation: The Festival of Color takes place at 5 p.m. at Robarts Arena, 3000 Ringling Blvd. $25.

Billed as a festival of color, this event, featuring 20 area DJs, takes place from 5 to 11 p.m. at Robarts Arena.

In addition to live music, festivalgoers will experience blasts of nontoxic neon paint and color throughout the event.


SUNDAY, AUG. 9

+ Drag Queen Bingo Brunch — takes place at noon at Social on First, 1219 First St. $35 in advance, or $45 at the door.

Nothing goes better with Bloody Marys and mimosas than Beneva and Bingo.

Social on First is serving up its delicious brunch fare while you play Bingo with your favorite drag queen. Fun and bawdy with a heaping helping of the unexpected, let Beneva season your brunch with her spicy humor. Amazing prizes for Bingo winners, too. Ticket includes brunch, two drinks and three games of Bingo.
