The city of Sarasota has landed on yet another website list touting it as a desirable place to live, thanks to its golf courses, healthcare system and weather.
Livability.com has ranked Sarasota second on its “Top 10 Best Places to Retire” list for 2015, citing quality healthcare and retiree-friendly services. The city was the only municipality in Florida to make the list.
"Sarasota offers access to affordable and quality health care, a practical cost of living, retiree-friendly businesses and services, as well as several amenities to help keep residents active," according to a Livability press release.
The site uses data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Medicare , the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, among other organizations to devise the ranking.
"Once home to the Ringling Brothers Circus, the city provides countless cultural and recreational opportunities, including fishing, kayaking, the Sarasota Ballet and the Sarasota Film Festival," the release states. "Retirement communities and assisted living centers can be found throughout Sarasota, as well as a variety of homes ranging from beachfront mansions to quaint bungalows near downtown."
