UPDATE: According to ourgulfenvironment.net, other Sarasota County area beaches that are not under a beach water advisory are Ringling Causeway, North and South Lido, Longboat Key, Siesta, Nokomis, Brohard Park, Blind Pass, Manasota Key, Casperson, Venice Fishing Pier, Service Club and Venice public beaches.

Beach water advisories are in effect for Lido, Turtle and North Jetty beaches.

Beach water samples taken Wednesday showed elevated levels of enterococci bacteria, according to a statement from the Sarasota County Health Department.

Residents and visitors can still use the Lido, Turtle and North Jetty beaches but are urged not to enter the water until the advisory is lifted.

Additionally, any shellfish collected in the immediate area of these beaches or any beach water with a brown tint should not be consumed. It is still safe to fish and consume fin-fish from these waters.

The Health Department plans to conduct follow-up water sampling today and have results by tomorrow afternoon.
