Terminally ill children will get a chance to visit the North Pole during a special event Dec. 8 at the Sarasota/Bradenton Airport Fire Department.

Local community associations and groups will provide stuffed animals, entertainment and other festivities to terminally ill children during the 27th annual Flight to the North Pole.

The program was started in 1985 by Eastern Airline flight attendants and is continued locally by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, the Sarasota/Bradenton Airport Fire Department and local businesses and volunteers.

Monetary donations to the cause can be sent to Flight to the North Pole, Inc., 600 301 Blvd. W. Suite 202, Bradenton, FL 34205.
