Village residents to face boil water notices

Longbeach Village residents  should watch out for new signage or door hangers in the neighborhood this month, because the town of Longboat Key will be issuing intermittent boil water notices.

The Public Works Department will be performing valve replacements and repair on the town’s water system, according to a news release. That work will require residents, who the town will notify individually, to boil their water for at least 24 hours upon notification.

All water that will be used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes should be boiled during the cautionary period. A rolling boil of one minute should be sufficient, but bottled water is another alternative.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” said Utilities Manager David Greene in the release.
