Beneath a sprawling oak tree at Summerfield Park, River Club resident Karlie Pleasant sidled up to her best friend, Caleb Esler, as a smile spread across her face.

Her great-grandmother’s diamond sparkled from its new perch atop her ring finger.

The couple celebrated their engagement on Valentine’s Day.

“We’re excited to see what God does (next),” Karlie said with a grin.

As part of the proposal, Caleb gave Karlie a series of gifts — each representing a different reason why he’d come to love her over the last two-and-one-half years — and a Bible verse to go with it.

Her great grandmother’s diamond, reset for the occasion, was the last.

The couple has not yet set a date for the wedding but hopes to marry in June.

Caleb and Karlie plan to do mission work overseas after Karlie graduates from physician assistant school in about two years.
