After months of investigations by the Manatee County Sheriff's Department into possible animal cruelty occuring at Napier's Log Horse Cabin and Animal Sanctuary, property owners Alan and Sheree Napier were arrested April 17.

The Napiers were charged with 15 counts of aggravated animal cruelty involving nine dogs, five horses and a cat, said a report released this afternoon by the Sheriff's Department.

Alan Napier also faces a fraud charge.

Deputies executed a search warrant at the Napier's property, located at 20010 State Road 64 E., Feb. 5, after receiving phone calls from concerned area residents, along with other tips.

During their search, deputies deemed the property's living conditions as poor and seized 300 dogs, cats, horses, goats and other animals from the property.
