UPDATE: Man dies while painting Sarasota Military Academy

The Service Painting of Florida worker found unconscious before 10 a.m. this morning while he was painting a building at Sarasota Military Academy has died, according to a news release.

One witness performed CPR on 55-year-old Sarasota resident Mitch Phelps before he was transported Sarasota Memorial Hospital, after Phelps was found pinned by machinery against on of the buildings on campus.

Construction will continue on the campus today, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration staff will visit the site to investigate.
