Sarasota Police have identified the body found in Big Pass Aug. 27, as that of the president of the firm working on a government contract on Siesta Key.

A passing boat had discovered the body of CB Construction Services Corp. President and CEO Cresente Bautista, 59. The body did not show initial signs of foul play, according to Sarasota Police Officer Linda DeNiro.

Bautista's firm was working on the Bay Island Park seawall replacement project on the north end of Siesta Key. The investigation is ongoing.

Earlier: The Sarasota Police Department is currently investigating a death after discovering the body of a black male in Big Pass, according to an Aug. 27 news release.

The cause of death of the man believed to be in his 50s or 60s is currently unknown, but foul play is not suspected, according to Sarasota Police Officer Linda DeNiro. Police have not released the identity of the man because detectives have yet to reach his next of kin.

Sarasota County Public Works Capital Projects Director Isaac Brownman emailed Sarasota County Administrator Randall Reid before 1 p.m. today to report the head of the construction company working on a Siesta Key seawall was found dead at the worksite. DeNiro could not confirm the incidents were related, but did not have any other reports of deaths.
