Lakewood Ranch High music students are again in the spotlight.

Savannah Carpenter, a junior, and Cypress Potter, a sophomore, are attending the Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA) Conference, held from Jan. 13 through Jan. 16 in Tampa.

Carpenter will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday as part of the women's All-State Choir, and Potter was one of two violinists chosen from Manatee County to attend and compete.

The event, which consists of 250 music clinics and concerts, is said to draw more than 10,000 attendees, according to the FMEA website.

Designed as an event not just for students, FMEA is aimed at music teachers and school administrators as well as k-12 and college students interested in bettering their musical skills.

Stay tuned to hear how the Ranch musicians performed this week.
