The Manatee County Commission agreed to hold off discontinuing its portion of the funding of the Longboat Key trolley route until the end of the year.

At a budget meeting Thursday, Sept. 16, the Manatee County Commission told Vice Mayor Jim Brown, Commissioners David Brenner, Robert Siekmann and Phillip Younger that it would continue to fund the trolley while commissioners work with the town and Sarasota County to come up with a more permanent solution in 2011.

The Sarasota County Commission voted at its regular meeting Tuesday for a motion that calls for a meeting of Manatee County, Sarasota County and Longboat Key officials to discuss the issue further. Sarasota County also agreed to continue funding its portion of the route through Dec. 31 if Manatee County was willing.
