Trolley meeting scheduled

A joint meeting of the town of Longboat Key and commissioners from Manatee and Sarasota counties will be held in December to reach a deal that will keep the trolley service running on Longboat Key.

Town Manager Assistant Susan Phillips forwarded an e-mail to the Town Commission Thursday confirming a 3 p.m. Dec. 1 meeting between all three boards at the Sarasota County Administration Center, 1660 Ringling Blvd.

In the meantime, the Manatee County Commission has agreed to hold off discontinuing its portion of the funding of the Longboat Key trolley route until the end of the year.
