The Sarasota Tree Advisory Council was on the verge of being fed to the wood-chipper last year, when Sarasota County commissioners considered combining it with the Environmental Policy Task Force.

On Nov. 8, almost a year after that County Commission meeting, STAC will host its monthly meeting in the Green Room at Twin Lakes and ask the public where its priorities are on all things related to trees. Following the meeting, the community can fill out a STAC survey that will give the council and Sarasota County Natural Resources a database to form policies.

Council members finalized plans for the event during a meeting yesterday, which also included a lengthy discussion about mangroves.

For more information about mangrove protection, pick up a copy of the Oct. 18 issue of the Pelican Press.
