Traffic flows on GMD despite pipeline project

Construction on a $3.5 million pipeline upsizing project along Gulf of Mexico Drive from Bay Isles Road south to the end of the Key is continuing just south of Outrigger Lane on Gulf of Mexico Drive.

Although both the northbound and southbound lanes are open, lanes have been shifted slightly to the west, with southbound traffic moving through the bicycle lane while construction takes place in the eastern side of the road. The speed limit is 35 mph in the construction zone during this project, which is expected to be complete in September.
