Town to hold community open house

The town will hold a community open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 8, at the Longboat Key Public Safety Complex, 5490 Gulf of Mexico Drive.

The event will offer a chance to meet the town’s employees and learn about each department.
Firefighter/paramedics will perform blood pressure and wellness checks, along with demonstrations, and the Sarasota County Special Operations Unit Bloodmobile will offer educational information.

Find information about the March 25 General Municipal Election, including early voting dates, the 2014 fiscal year budget, membership at the Longboat Key Tennis Center, water conservation, the town’s website and more.

The event will also offer the chance to inspect emergency equipment, including patrol cruisers, the police boat and beach ATV units, and the opportunity to tour the Police Department.

Free document shredding will also take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
