Fifteen Sarasota County high school students received the Town Hall Scholarship Tuesday, May 20, at a Sarasota County School Board meeting.

The students, who were part of the 2014 Town Hall Scholars, each received a $2,000 scholarship for their continuing education. The Oberndorf Foundation and the Community Foundation of Sarasota County made the scholarships possible.

The Town Hall Lecture Scholars is small group of students who attend this year’s Ringling College Library Association Town Hall Lecture Series and meet with guest speakers before each lecture.

More than 60 students applied for the scholarships by submitting an essay. The fifteen essay winners were honored for their leadership skills.
