APRIL FOOLS — In a last-ditch effort to persuade the Longboat Key Town Commission to maintain its police 911 dispatch services, police have merged 911 call-taking services with 411 information services. Starting April 1, residents who call 911 and 411 will be directed to the same call center, through which dispatchers will offer VIP-level concierge and emergency services.

As one of his last duties in office, former Mayor Jim Brown agreed to lend his voice for the new line. Callers of both 411 and 911 will be greeted with his automated voice and will be given a directory of numbers to hit. This will help the call center workers better assist callers.

This handy list can help you out when you need help in an emergency or directory assistance.

Hopefully you made it to the end of the article, so we can say, Happy April Fools' Day! This story is not true.
