The Longboat Key Town Commission's agenda is booked today.

At 1:30 p.m. today in the third floor Think Tank room at the Sarasota County Administration Center, 1660 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota, the commission has a joint workshop with the Sarasota County Commission to discuss an update on Longboat Key beach projects, looming construction for Bayfront Park additions, the town's Gulf of Mexico Drive undergrounding initiative and the pending conversion to Sarasota County's 911 dispatch program.

Tonight, the commission has a 7 p.m. regular meeting at Longboat Key Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road, to discuss issues that includes a request by the Longboat Key Chamber of Commerce for the town to pay up to $13,765 to help pay for costs associated with the  town's 60th anniversary celebration scheduled for Nov. 14 at Bayfront Park. Those costs include $3,000 for a three-hour jazz concert and $6,900 for print and digital advertising. Sponsors will pay for the fireworks, which are estimated to cost $10,700. The event, though, is free and open to the public.

Commissioners will also discuss a proposal to inspect the longevity and durability of the town's only wastewater pipe under Sarasota Bay that funnels all of the town's wastewater to a water treatment facility in Bradenton.
