Carol-Lee Porter calls the large red-eared slider that lives in her koi pond “Turtle.” The pond is home to Turtle’s two turtle friends, both also aptly named “Turtle.” Porter discovered 15 eggs laid by the original Turtle Tuesday on her lanai porch. Turtle was in hiding but had carefully placed her eggs in a nest of leaves, which will be picked up, with the nest intact, by one of Porter’s friends, who works as a naturalist.
