The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested three men suspected of committing residential burglaries in northern Sarasota County on Tuesday.

Desmond Dickson and Jason White, both 20-years-old, and 21-year-old Craig Chappell, all from Fort Lauderdale, were arrested after a pursuit involving a rental van.

Deputies spotted the van just before 1 p.m. Tuesday, as it was speeding away from a nearby crime scene. They originally attempted to stop the vehicle near University Parkway and Interstate 75, but it fled from deputies. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office helicopter provided air support allowing deputies to follow from a safe distance and ultimately capture all three when they ran from the vehicle as it stopped at the rear of a convenience store near the intersection of Laurel Road and Tamiami Trail in Nokomis. There were no injuries or related damage. Some stolen items have been recovered. All three men are charged with burglary, and attempted burglary. Desmond Dickson has also been charged with fleeing to elude law enforcement.
