With the school year coming to a close Superintendent Lori White announces that three elementary schools will be appointed new principals.

Pending approval by the School Board of Sarasota County, Fruitville, Lakeview and Tatum Ridge elementary schools will welcome new principals for the start of the 2015-2016 school year.

“All three of these administrators are highly regarded by their colleagues, and each of them perfectly fits the description of what parents and staff members said they wanted in their next principal,” said Laura Kingsley, executive director of elementary schools. “They will be excellent leaders of their schools.”

Former Pine View School Assistant Principal Lisa Wheatley has been named the next principal of Lakeview Elementary. She succeeds current Principal Joan Bower, who is retiring after serving as Lakeview for 10 years.

Fruitville Elementary School Assistant Principal Steven French was named acting principal in February when longtime principal Kingsley was appointed as the new executive director of elementary schools.

Barry Dunn has served as principal of Jessie P. Miller Elementary in Manatee County since 2009 and will now lead Tatum Ridge Elementary. The position became available after Principal Eric Jackson was named the next principal for Riverview High School.

Pending approval, all new appointments will be effective as of July 1.
