1. THURSDAY, FEB. 11 

Coming off its first district championship since 2005, the Lakewood Ranch boys basketball team begins regional tournament play at 7 p.m. when it hosts North Port in the Class 7A-Region 3 quarterfinals. The Mustangs beat North Port, which advanced to the state semifinals last season, 56-43 during their regular season matchup on Nov. 20. The winner will advance to the regional semifinals Feb. 16. 

2. FRIDAY, FEB. 12 

After advancing to the regional semifinals a season ago, the Lakewood Ranch baseball team looks for a fast start to 2016 when it hosts George Jenkins at 7 p.m. in its home opener. The non-district game is one of only two home games for the Mustangs stretching across a seven-game span. 

3. SATURDAY, FEB. 13 through MONDAY, FEB. 15 

USA Field Hockey will host its inaugural Presidents Day Showcase, at the Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch. This competitive club tournament will feature 126 field hockey teams from across the country competing in both under-16 and under-19 divisions. Play will begin at 8 a.m. each day with each team playing two games. 

4. TUESDAY, FEB. 16 

After capturing the Class 3A-District 10 baseball championship last year, The Out-of-Door Academy finds itself in a new nine-team district this season. The Thunder return home at 7 p.m. to take on crosstown rival Bradenton Christian in their second district game of an eight-game stretch.
