Thanksgiving Day closures

In observation of Thanksgiving, various government offices will be closed starting as early as Friday, Nov. 22, with the exception of area parks, beaches and preserves, which will remain open throughout upcoming weeks. 

Holiday closures include:

County government offices — closed Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29.

Libraries — closed Nov. 22-24. Central, Island and Rocky Bluff libraries will close at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27. 

Fixed route, handy bus service and the Longboat Key trolley — shut down on Thursday, Nov. 28, and will re-open Friday, Nov. 29. The Anna Maria trolley will remain open Thanksgiving.

There will be no trash or recycling pick-up on Thanksgiving. The trash will be disposed of Friday, Nov. 29 and Saturday, Nov. 30.
