Tennis twins win championships

Arnav and Arsav Mohanty, 16-year-old twin brothers from Lakewood Ranch, won the USTA Florida State Doubles Championships (Boys 16s) Sept. 25-27 in Altamonte Springs.

After winning their first two rounds easily, they beat top-seeded pair Sebastian Beltrame and Samuel Lampman in the quarterfinal, the eighth-seeded pair of Alex Sweet and Jack Haffey in the semifinal and Christopher Perrigan and Brett Landau in the final.

The Mohanty brothers now have broken into the top 50 in the nation in Doubles rankings. Arnav is ranked No. 42, and Arsav No. 43 (IND Doubles) in the 2010 National Standing List published by the United States Tennis Association Sept 29. In Florida, Arnav is now ranked No. 18 and Arsav No. 22 in the 2010 Florida Tentative Ranking combined rankings.

In the National Singles, Arnav is ranked No. 153 and Arsav No. 205 in the 2010 National Standing List combined rankings published Sept 29.
