Rabbi Michael B. Eisenstat’s Miniversity of Judaism classes have taken place at Temple Beth Israel for more than 10 years. The series, from the Institute of Jewish Continuing Education, provides educational programs and activities for the community as a way to increase knowledge of Jewish heritage and tradition.

There are a myriad of topics and new presenters this year, including a film course looking at “A Cantor’s Tale”; a fieldtrip to the Salvador Dali Museum and Florida Holocaust Museums in St. Petersburg; and a cooking session with Elise Galinsky.

Classes begin Thursday, Dec. 1, and run through April 2. “Vichy Uncovered,” led by instructor Jean Renoux, starts Thursday, Dec. 1, and will look into the Vichy government that enacted German-inspired racial laws that transported Jews to death camps. Another upcoming class, “A Salon of Their Making,” led by instructor Baila Miller, will focus on the impact of Gertrude and Leo Stein on the world. It begins Wednesday, Dec. 7.

A full list of courses can be viewed on Temple Beth Israel’s website, www.tbi-lbk.org. Catalogs and registration forms can be picked up and returned to Temple Beth Israel, 567 Bay Isles Road. Call 383-3428 for more information.
