Tatum Ridge Elementary School Principal Eric Jackson is leaving his post–but not Sarasota County.

Sarasota County Schools announced today that Jackson was named the next principal for Riverview High School.

Current principal Linda Nook will retire July 1 after 14 years at Riverview.

Jackson started in Sarasota County in 2006 as an assistant principal at Sarasota High School. In 2008, he served as an assistant director at Suncoast Technical College (previously called Sarasota County Technical Institute). In 2010, he returned to Sarasota High as assistant principal again, and in 2012 moved to Tatum Ridge Elementary for the principal position.

“I’m looking forward to working with the Riverview High School community,” said Jackson in a press. “I’m excited to lead such a high-performing high school that offers a wide range of educational programs and experiences for all students.”

Riverview has about 2,500 students in attendance.

Jackson has a Bachelors degree in political science from the University of Massachusetts and a masters degree in educational computing from the University of Hartford.

He is married with two children, one who is currently enrolled in and one graduate of Sarasota High School.
