Tara secures property manager

TARA — Starting Sept. 1, residents of the Tara community will see a change in property-management services.

The Tara Golf & Country Club, which has provided property-management services for the Tara Master Association since 2005, announced three months ago its resignation as property manager, effective Aug. 31. The Association has hired Resource Property Management as its new manager.

“It was a very attractive bid financially and we expect to save significant amounts of members’ dues,” Tara Master Association Board President Beth Bond said. “We thank the Tara Golf & Country Club for serving as our management company for a number of years, and we look forward to working with this new company.”

Golf & Country Club General Manager Tony Greising said the club has provided property management services since May 2005, at which time Tara’s developer recommended to the association that the club assume property-management duties because of its familiarity with the project and membership.

“Over the last couple of years, there was a lot of discussion about (our role) — do we want to be in that business?” Greising said. “We decided we really didn’t want to. Our contract allowed us to give them 90 days’ notice.”

Bond said the new Tara Master Association board wants to competitively bid most of its contracts, and the golf and country club’s decision provided an opportunity to seek proposals for property-management services.

Greising said the club declined to submit a proposal when the Tara Master Association sent out request for proposals from various property-management companies.

Although having the Tara Golf & Country Club as property manager afforded association members benefits such as having a manager on site and inclusive costs for meeting space, Bond said she believes the change will be a positive one for the community.

“Our (new) office manager is 10 to 12 minutes away on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard,” she said. “We will have someone assigned to us full time. We expect enhanced service. We’re very excited about it. I think it’s going to be a beneficial change.”

The Association has also retained new legal counsel, the firm of Njamy and Thompson. Rick Weller will be the association’s new lead attorney.
