TARA PRESERVE — Supervisors on the Tara Community Development District Board will continue to fine-tune their policies and fee schedules for use of the district’s facilities when the board holds its next meeting April 28.

Board Chairman John Schmidt said the CDD previously permitted groups to use the activity center and other facilities on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, the board has had to reconsider that philosophy.

“We are having a greater demand on the community center (than we can accommodate),” Schmidt said at the board’s March 24 meeting. “There are no times available anymore.”

The board is working on new scheduling and fee requirements, including a “prime time” concept, where group activities could have time constraints if they occur during the center’s peak traffic hours, for example.

“We’re also trying to establish who can use the recreation center free of charge and who should pay,” Schmidt said. “It’s the same for guests and the pool — who can use it and how many guests can they have?”

Supervisors will take up the topic at their next meeting.

TARA CDD: Other business
In other business, at their March 24 meeting, Tara CDD supervisors:
- Voted to have an earlier start time for meetings. Meetings now will begin at 9 a.m. instead of 10 a.m.;
- Agreed to include consideration of sod replacement along the Tara Boulevard sidewalk from Tara Preserve Lane to Tailfeather Way in its upcoming budget cycle, as opposed to a separate, immediate item.
- Learned from representatives of Florida Power and Light that the CDD leases its poles from FPL and that, currently, there is no option for upgrading street lights to LED lighting.

WATERLEFE CDD
Supervisors on the Waterlefe Community Development District soon will cast their votes for the CDD’s new board member.
Supervisor Mark Kalish will resign effective April 30.

Candidates vying to replace Kalish are Shirley McGee, Terry Holinsky and Al Haibach.
The board will choose its newest member at its May meeting.

In other business:
- Supervisors voted to offer a three-year lease on golf course equipment to Show Turf.
- Supervisors voted to regrout a portion of the marina retaining wall. Costs should not exceed $3,000 and the amount already is in the budget.
