If Lakewood Ranch resident Helen Hagerty had a tail, it would be wagging.

Her book, “Please Let Me Stay,” a true story told through the voice of a dog named Toby, has been named a finalist for the Maxwell Medallion, an honor the Dog Writers Association of America gives annually.
Hagerty co-authored the book with Sue Nelowet, of Virginia.
