Despite recent downpours as the area welcomes its wet season, drought conditions still continue.

Manatee County officials are asking residents to abide by the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s modified Phase III watering restrictions through Sept. 30.

Properties of two or more acres should water between 12:01 to 10 a.m. or between 4 to 11:59 p.m. Properties under two acres should water from 12:01 a.m. to 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m., until 11:59 p.m.

House numbers ending in “0” or “1” should water on Mondays; “2” or “3” on Tuesdays; “4” or “5” on Wednesdays, “6” or “7” on Thursdays; and “8” or “9” on Fridays. A first violation will result in a citation of $100 plus court costs. A second citation costs $250 plus court costs.

Residents who install new sod or plantings should notify their water company of new installation of sod, seed, plugs, plants, shrubs and trees to avoid potential fines.

For additional information, visit the county’s Web site at www.mymanatee.org/water or call 792-8811 Ext. 5327.
