Two men this weekend were named as suspects in the burglary of more than $40,000 in jewelry from an East County jewelry store.

A Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report states Damaso Lararo and Moreda Soren of Miami were identified using security camera footage from Bartlett Jewelers as the individuals responsible for stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from the shop at 7317 52nd Place E., Bradenton.

After stealing the items, the men had traveled to Naples, where they attempted to rob a Lens Crafters store and were caught. The Naples Police Department contacted the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and assisted in linking the suspects to the jewelry burglary after finding items from Bartlett in Soren’s vehicle.

The sheriff’s office currently is formulating warrants for the suspects, who are in Collier County’s jail without bond.
