Manatee County School District Superintendent Tim McGonegal today announced a new budget development process that will make sure School Board officials have more information sooner in the budget process.

The process, which will be utilized for the 2012-2013 school year, was initiated following reviews of budget development methods by Manatee County Government, Sarasota County Schools and the University of Florida's Board of Trustees.

Under the new process, the School Board will act as the primary information-gathering body and will hold workshops to discuss budget-related issues and gather information from staff, departments and the community.
