The deadline to register for the Longboat Key Senior Clay Courts Super Cat II Tournament is quickly approaching.

Registration will close at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21. The tournament will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 29 to Dec. 4 at the Longboat Key Tennis Center, the Longboat Key Club and possibly Cedars Tennis Club.

This is the 14th year for the men’s tournament that drew 278 players from 33 states last year. The tournament is in the National Level 2 Men’s Singles and Doubles Division for 55 to 80-year-olds. The skill level is listed as intermediate to advanced on the U.S. Tennis Association website.

The tournament was founded by Dick Schlorff and is sanctioned by the USTA as a national super category II tournament giving it five times the ranking points as a local tournament.

Cost is $81.13 for first singles matches and $59.63 for first doubles matches. Additional doubles matches are $48.88. The maximum charged fee is $120.

The tournament is presented by the Friends of Tennis Inc., an organization that supports the Longboat Key Tennis Center.

For those that want to play doubles but have no partner, event organizers can try to set up pairs. Registration forms can be picked up at the Longboat Key Tennis Center, 590 Bay Isles Road, or on the USTA website.
