Lakewood Ranch Community Activities Corp. this weekend will celebrate the start of school with its annual Back to School Splash Bash event Aug. 23, at the Lakewood Ranch YMCA, 5100 Lakewood Ranch Blvd.
Lakewood Ranch families can enjoy swimming, water slides, an inflatable home run derby and other festivities during the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is free.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Organizers recommend families bring swimsuits, towels, water shoes, sunscreen and lawn chairs.
