Schroeder Manatee Ranch will pitch a shopping center plan to the Manatee County Planning Commission at its Thursday meeting.

The proposal would require a rezoning of the almost 17-acre parcel on the northeast corner of Lorraine Road and State Road 70 from general agriculture to planned commercial. The site is north of the newly-opened Wawa gas station and convenience store.

The preliminary site plan for the project is a 82,600 square-foot center that would include both retail and commercial shops, including one main store and four other stores. The plaza would have four points of access, three on Lorraine Road and one on S.R. 70.

Staff recommends approval for this project. The Manatee County Planning Commissioners will consider the item during their meeting tomorrow.
