SMR to build Jensen statue

APRIL FOOLS' DAY — Just two weeks after Schroeder-Manatee Ranch unveiled the name and logo of its new sports complex off State Road 70, officials have decided to change both.

In an apparent move to pay more homage to SMR President and CEO Rex Jensen, the Lakewood Ranch developer on Monday announced it is changing the sports facility’s name from the Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch to the Rex Plex.

In addition, the complex now will feature a larger-than-life bronze statue of Jensen similar to the famous one of Rocky in Philadelphia, Pa.
