Sarasota County posted an advertisement for bids for crosswalk lighting in Siesta Key VillageĀ Jan. 18 online atĀ eprocure.scgov.net. Contractors interested in manufacturing and installing LED bollards have until Feb. 13 to submit bids, according to solicitation documents.

The county was unsuccessful soliciting quotes from contractors capped at $50,000 by the deadline of a previous advertisement. That effort was an invitation for quotes, which is less restrictive in terms of local preference and competitive bidding than the formal bid solicitation issued Jan. 18, according to the Sarasota County procurement manual.

County commissioners must approve the contract for the firm chosen in the bidding process. Feb. 26 is the soonest County Commission meeting date after the invitation for bids closes.

Siesta Key Association Vice President Peter van Roekens last January first voiced the concern about Village crosswalk along Ocean Boulevard.
