+ PGA pro named to board of directors
Jack Binswanger, PGA owner and operator of Village Green Golf Club, in Sarasota, was elected to the PGA of America Board of Directors as District 13 director during the 97th PGA annual meeting Nov. 23, in San Diego.

+ Senior champion to take on IMG player
World senior champion Larry Turville, 64, will face 15-year-old Ingrid Neel at 11 a.m. Dec. 1, at Payne Park, in Sarasota.

Neel is the No. 1 player at the IMG Bollettieri Academy.

The match is free to the public and will benefit Meals on Wheels of Sarasota.

+ ODA girls sweep Imagine School
The Out-of-Door Academy girls soccer team blanked Imagine High School 8-0 Nov. 21.

Abby Lagasse scored a hat trick and added two assists to lead the Lady Thunder to a district victory. Katie Lang and Lexi Murphy each scored two goals and had two assists. Emily Camire scored one goal. Annika Lang and Abby Bannar each had one assist. Bannar and Izzy Eichenbaum combined for the shutout.

+ Lady Cougars shut out Lady Eagles
The Cardinal Mooney High girls soccer team improved to 6-3 with an 8-0 victory over Sarasota Military Academy Nov. 21.

Skylar Jungers scored two goals to lead the way for the Lady Cougars. Gabby Ojeda, Sarah Nelson, Courtney Lynn, Jill Bolk, Anna Brusco and Lauren Ravazzoli each scored one goal for Cardinal Mooney.

+ ODA edges St. Pete Canterbury
The Out-of-Door Academy girls basketball team held on to defeat St. Petersburg Canterbury 19-11 Nov. 20.

Lisa Hoffman scored eight points to lead the way for the Lady Thunder.

+ Riverview High girls swimming
The Riverview High girls swim team scored 209 points to capture its fourth consecutive Class 4A Swimming and Diving Championship Nov. 16, in Stuart. The Lady Rams finished 26 points ahead of state runner-up East Lake (183).

Junior Nancy Hu won a gold medal in the 200 individual medley, finishing in 2 minutes, 2.75 seconds. Hu also won silver in the 100 butterfly (55.44 seconds).

Sophomore Spence Atkins finished second in the 500 freestyle (4:49.16) and third in the 200 freestyle (1:49.50).

Hu also helped lead the 400 freestyle relay to a second-place finish, while Atkins was the leadoff on the girls 200 freestyle relay team that finished third.
