ODA Boys Middle School Soccer
The Out-of-Door Academy middle school boys soccer team finished its season with a perfect 12-0 record, outscoring its opponents 36-5.

Over the course of the season, the Thunder took 100 more shots than all of its opponents combined; every player on the team saw action in all but one match.

Championship players include: Max Hajduk, Edward Hamburger, Sean Morris, Matteo Romano, Wylder Meyer, Jake Flake, Alvaro Juncosa, Viraj Patel, Banks Paxton, Hunter Coakley, Gus Mahler, Tucker Harris, Zach Szmania, Colin Castro, Daniel Schuetz, Tommy Hubbard, Ryan Ives, Filip Svoboda, Phillip Cecil, Dakota Dickerson, Chase Bannar, Tomas Giacinti, Skye Ehrhart, Thomas Naylor, Adam Sholi and Jack Towsley.

+ Steinfeld wins at Ippolito tournament
Sarasota Military Academy junior Connor Steinfeld won the 152-pound weight class at the Ippolito Tournament Jan. 18, at Brandon High.

The tournament, which featured 37 teams from across the state, is one of the toughest tournaments of the regular season.

+ Sailors grapplers take fifth place
The Sarasota High wrestling team went 6-3 to finish fifth at the 16-team Titan Duals Jan. 18 and Jan. 19 in Naples.

Yosbiel Garcia (106 pounds), Chance Sharbono (113) and Toby Baker (220) all went 9-0 on the weekend. Steven Mercadante (152) went 8-1, and Chris Giuffre (138) and Daniel Nava (195) both went 7-2.

Garcia, Sharbono and Baker all earned all-tournament honors for their respective weight classes. Baker is currently ranked No. 2 in the state, while Sharbono is ranked No. 6.

The Sailors return to action Jan. 23 versus Island Coast on senior night.

+ Registration underway for seniors
Registration for the 25th annual Gulf Coast Senior Games is now open and continues through Jan. 31.

The games will take place Feb. 18 to Feb. 23, at venues throughout Manatee and Sarasota counties.

The games are designed to promote and maintain health and wellness to local residents ages 50 and up.
Events offered at this year’s event include archery, bowling, cycling, horseshoes, swimming and track and field, among others.

To become a competitor, register online at mymanatee.org/parks or fill out a registration form. Registration booklets are available at Sarasota County recreation centers or libraries.

The entry fee is $12. There is an additional fee of $3 per event, to compete.

The Gulf Coast Senior Games is a local qualifier for the 2014 Florida Senior Games State Championships, to be held Dec. 6 to Dec. 14 in Lee County.
