+ Florida Burn Pennant 16U players earn honors
The Florida Burn Pennant 16U team finished third in the Perfect Game 16U BCS finals June 26 through July 2, in Fort Myers.

Braden River pitcher Eric Kimsey went 2-0 in 7 2/3 innings and was named to the All-Tournament team.

Out-of-Door Academy’s Parke Phillips also was named to the All-Tournament team after batting .647 for the tournament.

+ Chargers to hold supplemental tryout
The Lakewood Ranch Chargers Soccer Club will hold a supplemental tryout for its U11 boys team July 19.

The tryout will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch. The tryout is open to all players born between Aug. 1, 2003, and July 31, 2004.

Interested players must send an email to Antonio Saviano at [email protected] to confirm attendance.

+ Ranch grapplers compete in duals
The Lakewood Ranch High wrestling team competed in the National AAU Wrestling Scholastic Duals June 27 through July 1, at Walt Disney World.

Dylan Cameron (120 pounds) went 8-1 to earn All-American honors. Tim Dwyer (132) went 7-2. Both wrestlers were awarded medals.

+ BRLL wins sectional tournament
The Braden River Little League Intermediate All-Stars went 2-0 to win the Section IV tournament July 5, in Brandon.

The team defeated Auburndale 13-4 and Temple Terrace 20-6. Braden River will now advance to the state tournament July 11 and July 12, in Wellington.
