+ Lady Rams top Sailors
Alyssa Jackson hit a bases-loaded triple in the fourth inning to propel the Riverview High softball team to a 5-2 victory over Sarasota Feb. 20.

Jackson and Victoria Groves each had three hits. Carly Nicholas and Courtney Kelly added two hits each. Halie Roberson had two hits for Sarasota.

+ Cougars’ season ends
The Cardinal Mooney High boys basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 73-53 loss to Community School of Naples in the Class 3A-Region 3 finals Feb. 23.

Antonio Blakeney finished with 15 points and five rebounds. Jamie Glasser and Parker Del Medico added 11 points apiece.

+ Rams blank Tigers
Behind the arm of pitcher Reed Torrine, the Riverview High baseball team shut out Palmetto 4-0 Feb. 20.
Torrine pitched a complete game, allowing one hit, with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning and two walks, while striking out nine. Kyle Washburn went 3-for-4 with one RBI to lead the way for the Rams at the plate.

+ Lady Cougars take win
Sophomore Bridget Walsh scored a hat trick to lead the Cardinal Mooney High girls lacrosse team to a 14-3 victory over St. Stephen’s Feb. 20.

The Lady Cougars followed up their win with a 13-0 victory over Sarasota Military Academy Feb. 22. Walsh recorded her second hat trick of the season, and added two assists. Alex Jungers had a hat trick and an assist.

+ Impact to host shootout
Impact Basketball Academy will host its annual Sarasota Xplosion Shootout Basketball Tournament March 8 through March 10, in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

More than 100 teams are expected to register for the first USSSA Basketball qualifying tournament of the season.

+ Lady Rams win relays
The Riverview High girls track team scored 90 points to win the seventh annual Bobcat Relays Feb. 22, at North Port.

The Sarasota girls team finished eighth, and the Booker girls team finished 11th.

The Riverview High boys team finished second with 114 points. The Sarasota boys team finished seventh, and the Booker boys team was ninth.

Winners include:
• Riverview girls — 4x100 relay throwers, 4x200 relay, 4x400 relay, Madison Schmidt (pole vault relay)
• Sarasota girls and boys — 4x1600 relay
• Booker girls — 800 sprint medley
• Sarasota boys — distance medley
• Riverview boys — Richie James (long jump relay)


+ ODA Baseball
The Out-of-Door Academy baseball team defeated Bradenton Christian 10-1 in its Class 3A-District 10 opener Feb. 19.

Jimmy Kuebler pitched a complete game, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out nine. Desmond Lindsay had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs.
