It’s that time of year again when people scramble to Stella Maris Activity Hall at St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church for the Royal Rummage Sale. It’s a day when not only the parishioners rejoice, but bargain shoppers join in.

The “early bird” preview sale takes place from 1 to 5 p.m. March 2, followed by the regular sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3. The preview sale is $5 and the regular sale is free.

Last year, approximately 500 shoppers lined up for the pre-sale, and the sales total for that day exceeded $10,000. By the end of the sale, more than $25,000 was raised. It was the most successful sale the Women’s Guild has ever recorded.

In addition to donating unsold items and goods, proceeds from the sale benefit organizations such as Catholic schools, Meals on Wheels, The Resurrection House and other charitable agencies as the Guild committee sees fit.
