Sheriff's Office investigates shooting in Bradenton

The Manatee County Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting on the 6400 block of First Avenue East in Bradenton.

According to a Sheriff's office report, at approximately 5:40 a.m. Saturday, the Sheriff's Office received a report of random gunshots in the area of 65th Street East and Alpine Court. Deputies found four men who were holding down a 16-year-old male and they told deputies they had taken a firearm away from him.

Police also said a 15-year-old male was transported to the hospital with a non-threatening gunshot wound. The report said the incident started with the 16-year-old male and the 15-year-old male were seen in the neighborhood acting suspiciously. The two males had pointed firearms at 33-year-old Corey Pedersen and 34-year-old Garry Lawson. Pedersen armed himself and fired at the 16-year-old, who ran away after being wounded according to the report.

The Sheriff's Office, which lists the two minors as the suspects and Pedersen and Lawson as the victims, reported that charges are forthcoming.
