Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight and 12th Judicial Circuit Court Judge Maryann Boehm have filed to run in the 2016 election, rounding out a growing list of local candidates vying for office next year.

Knight, a Republican, ran unopposed in 2012 and won 65% of the vote to win the 2008 general election, while Boehm won 62% of the vote to win a six-year term in 2010.

The latest candidates join Ron Turner, who is running for supervisor of elections, and Mike Moran, who is aiming for a seat on the Sarasota County Commission, as 2016 hopefuls. Turner has raised $450 for his campaign, which includes $200 from current County Commissioner Christine Robinson, and Moran has raised $3,670.
