Scores: Mustang grapplers finish 3-2

The Lakewood Ranch High varsity wrestling team went 3-2 at The Dr. McBath Tough Team Tournament Jan. 14 at Pasco High.

The Mustangs defeated Lake Wales (45-27), Clearwater Central Catholic (43-12) and Gulf (42-30). Lakewood’s two losses came at the hands of top-ranked Cardinal Gibbons (48-21) and Pasco (42-41).

Evan Dipsiner (113 pounds) finished 5-0 to lead the way for the Mustangs. Blake Riley-Hawkins (132) and Kevin Garza (182) both went 4-1. Sophomore Jeremy Maldonado recorded two wins for the Mustangs in the 195-pound weight class despite only weighing 183 pounds.
